Cravens Ravenel retires from Baker Ravenel & Bender

Cravens Ravenal, a senior partner with Baker Ravenel & Bender retired after nearly 50 years of public service. His service included not only private practice focusing on products liability, professional malpractice, and construction defects litigation, but also his roles on the South Carolina Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness, the Midlands Commission on Homelessness, the chair of the Board of Trustees, South Carolina Episcopal Home at Still Hopes, the Board of Directors of the Greater Columbia Human Relations Council, and vice chair of the Richland County Election Commission.

He attended the University of South Carolina as an undergraduate, receiving an B.A. in History in 1963.  He then attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, participated in the South Carolina Law Review from 1969 to 1970 and graduated in 1970, receiving an Order of the Wig and Robe award.

Among his accomplishments as a successful attorney, Ravenel was named a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and recognized in the publication Best Lawyers in America.

Baker, Ravenel & Bender, L.L.P is one of South Carolina’s oldest law firms. The firm was established around 1900 and has changed its name through the decades to reflect its then current senior stakeholders. The firm is expected to continue practicing under the name Baker Ravenel & Bender.
